KOAX has been designed to use 45% less power than a traditional motor utilising reduced friction, more efficient use of drive torque, continuous operation via battery and the re-use of excess energy. KOAX not ony ensures you doors open and close when required but operates them using less energy.
The KOAX separated extra low voltage (SELV) DC motor drive and control system has revolutionised safety, operation and installation of roller shutter and sectional overhead doors. The motor also features 72% reusable parts, making KOAX a sustainable option. 

  

Energy Efficiency
KOAX works continually via battery, only using mains supply to recharge when required. The planetary gears and precision in-line final drive also create less resistance, providing high efficiency door movement with lower energy consumption. Excess energy produced during door movement is fed directly back into the batteries for re-use. Conventional 3 phase systems require a high amp draw directly from the mains supply which can produce sharp peaks in energy consumption. They also operate at a fixed speed through inefficient worm gears and other transmission components leading to stress points and increased resistance. 

Safety
The design of KOAX has eliminated the need for springs, gears and drive chains and incorporates a unique patented zero back drive high efficiency brake which completely eliminates back drive of the door panel . This system provides complete dynamic protection for safe vertical movement of the door. The motor drive features variable opening, closing and acceleration modes and operates on a DC current using a class iii separated extra low voltage control drive. KOAX has been tested and approved by BSI product services, offering reassurance of quality, safety and reliability. 

Complete with intelligent DC control system and mutilfunctional control panel the KOAX industrial door drive unit is ideal for new and existing roller shutter and sectional overhead doors. 

Exceptional cost over lifetime savings
When compared with traditional systems, KOAX total life costs are up to 75% lower.
Testing has been undertaken to establish the comparative life time costs between KOAX and a traditional motor, based on average use*. 

Using a traditional motor over a 10 year period you would expect, on average, to adjust the motor limits, re-tension the springs and replace the tension cables 5 times, adjust or replace the brake 3 times, replace the springs twice and replace the motor once. In direct comparison a KOAX motor drive system would only require the replacement of the tension cables and the 24v DC batteries twice offering customers considerable lifetime savings.

Warranty
Standard warranty on a motor drive system is 1 year however, Kaba extends the KOAX warranty period to 3 years if a 2 year maintenance agreement is entered into.
